PAST PROJECTS
JACK THE MAGAZINE
‘Jack’ was the title for a magazine aimed for young men – created by a group of young people in Halton. The idea was based around the original girls magazine ‘Jackie’ which was the first and only teenage girls magazine in the 50s which focussed on “how to get a boyfriend” and “how to knit a nice jumper” etc. The group suggested making a “jack” magazine as a male version.
The magazine we created with them explored some of the behaviours that young men exhibit, and challenged some of the negative stereotypes and behaviours towards women.
CARTOON STEREOTYPES
Where a group of young people describe explored stereo types and our artist drew cartoons representing their vision.
WOMEN IN HISTORY – DANCE
Working with young women exploring sexuality within music looking at the history of how women expressed themselves through dance over the past 100 years.
HEALTHY LIVING - MURAL
A group of young people were asked to create a piece of art promoting healthy living and what it means to them. Big Comedy Shop led sessions with the young people in creating a modern, funky, fun and informative mural using a mixture of art and graffiti styles and all in the shape of a giant human body!
FRIDAY NIGHTS IN THE PARK
A project that we helped co-ordinate supplying creative workshops at different park venues over the summer holiday period – with the aim being to engage young people in activities such as street dance, DJ technique, and urban art – available for the young people on their own territory – and when the weather was good we were able to deliver workshops outside in the sun!
