MULTI ARTS WITH BCS

Big Comedy Shop is proud to have on board a wide circle of friends who are from a variety of artistic backgrounds. These professionals are specialists within their field and have a wealth of experience in working with young people.

Big Comedy Shop has delivered a variety of original and creative workshops through these formed partnerships. These workshops can either be packaged as a range of art forms or as a single arts workshop.

Big Comedy Shop is able to co-ordinate any event where you may require several art forms and make sure everyone has a giggle whilst taking part in all activities.

Each workshop is tailor made to requirement with an aim facilitate a fun environment that promotes creativity and interaction within the session and leaving the group with a visual representation and reminder of their time spent and skills to carry forward.

URBAN ART

Big Comedy Shop provide Street Art workshops that are tailor made to confront and address important and relevant topics and issues affecting todays youth.

Ran by professional artists our classes provide all saftey equipment and materials needed to focus on the legal and creative aspects of Urban Art with a view to providing an outlet for self motivation and expression in a safe and controlled environment.

Past workshops have explored issues such as Bullying, Health and Wellbeing and Sexual Exploitation. Always resulting in finished pieces of Art that represent the opinions, resolutions and reactions to topics that confront todays youth.

RAP MC

Spitting lyrics’ as it is known is an excellent way of allowing young people to truly express themselves. It is also instantly gratifying for them to see their spoken topics quickly turned into lyrics which can then be recorded with a backing track.

DANCE

Hip hop and street dancing are the most popular dance styles that BCS have delivered in the past. Not only does dance have great physiological benefits it is also fascinating to see how groups of young people who have never met before can suddenly be working together and within an hour are looking like a fully fledged dance group! Even for those who claim to have two left feet!

PAST PROJECTS

JACK THE MAGAZINE

‘Jack’ was the title for a magazine aimed for young men – created by a group of young people in Halton. The idea was based around the original girls magazine ‘Jackie’ which was the first and only teenage girls magazine in the 50s which focussed on “how to get a boyfriend” and “how to knit a nice jumper” etc.  The group suggested making a “jack” magazine as a male version.

The magazine we created with them explored some of the behaviours that young men exhibit, and challenged some of the negative stereotypes and behaviours towards women.

CARTOON STEREOTYPES

Where a group of young people describe explored stereo types and our artist drew cartoons representing their vision.

WOMEN IN HISTORY – DANCE

Working with young women exploring sexuality within music looking at the history of how women expressed themselves through dance over the past 100 years.

HEALTHY LIVING - MURAL

A group of young people were asked to create a piece of art promoting healthy living and what it means to them. Big Comedy Shop led sessions with the young people in creating a modern, funky, fun and informative mural using a mixture of art and graffiti styles and all in the shape of a giant human body!

FRIDAY NIGHTS IN THE PARK

A project that we helped co-ordinate supplying creative workshops at different park venues over the summer holiday period – with the aim being to engage young people in activities such as street dance, DJ technique, and urban art – available for the young people on their own territory – and when the weather was good we were able to deliver workshops outside in the sun!
